Catch Recordings has quietly yet competently amassed a fine following for itself. The UK label deals in house and techno from the very fringes; music that is designed for the heads, with slow release pleasures and intricate details rather than headlining grabbing hooks. Next up to take charge is U+00C5, a real pioneer who has a stylish sound that sits in a sweet spot between dub, ambient, techno and minimal.

This is a particularly deep EP that kicks off with Blutdruck, a hypnotic voyage to the outer edges of our galaxy on carefully designs synths that loop to perfection. A muggy atmosphere hangs around the groove and there is a sense of darkness that is subtle but all consuming. Empfinden is perfectly suspensory, in line with master craftsmen such as Donato Dozy and Neel. The sound manipulation is superbly supple and linear, with the effects bering utterly brain soothing.

Taumel continues this trend, but with a more edgy synth loop that keeps you in suspend as softer pads serve to calm your senses in the background. Nichts Ist Wahr then drills down deep into a more industrial landscape, but a desolate one with only the distant sound of automation for company. Lastly, if you buy the EP digitally, you will also be treated to Nihil, an ambient beauty with implied rhythms and infinite horizons. Once again then Catch has come correct on this most essential of EPs.
