Khristian K takes a holistic approach to his work – he considers him self a ‘drawer’, producing ‘emotional body music’. He would likely consider himself more of an artisan, than a run-of-the-mill prolific deejay/producer. Khristian has most recently been releasing on his own Hungary based label Moira, where he has had support from the likes of Claude von Stroke, and now he comes to Catch for the release of this 3 track.
The name alludes to something extra-terrestrial, and ‘The Space Between Us’ is indeed a profound, cosmic journey, which takes the listener into some deep, dark spaces, with pounding basslines, before coming back out into the light, ending with the dreamy, hypnotic ‘Mystical Treatment’.
Opening track ‘Jupiter Mission’ is based on driving, unflinching bass, layered with muffled vocals, engaging the listener, enticing them into the record.
‘Apollo 18’ is set up on a deeper, more uptempo bass, heading toward being a proper techno roller, yet holding back just enough so as not to compromise Khristian’s unique sound.
Lastly, ‘Mystical Treatment’ is a much more minimal affair, with virtually no bass line, punctuated by alien sounds.
‘The space between us’ is a psychic journey through the medium of sound. It’s unique, and a demonstration of the breadth of Khristian’s talent and imagination. A stellar record, if you’ll excuse the naff pun.
